Letters Between Us @ Visible Voice in Tremont

On another wintry afternoon, on Sunday, January 18, 2009, friends and family trekked to Visible Voice Books in Tremont in Cleveland, OH to hear me read excerpts from Letters Between Us.
It was a small intimate gathering inside this amazing book store that has wine tastings along with book signings....I only wish I had known about the wine tasting part before I came.

The day was snowing and overcast, and yet, friends and family came anyway. This is a hardy group and I thank you all for your support.
Thanks so much too to Jeff Dubyk,
manager of Visible Voice, for inviting me to read while not knowing anything about this Hollywood author....I so appreciate my cousin Marylou Palermo's dogged determination, which strongly encouraged me to make these appearances in Cleveland overall. I loved the winter white weather inspite of the cold.
I mean who has ever heard of weather in Hollywood, California!?!?

Letters Between Us Visits B&N Crocker Park, OH

Thank you to Bobbie Werner Community Relations Manager (not pictured) and the staff of Barnes & Noble in Crocker Park, OH for giving me a writer's reception on a cold and snowy Saturday Jan 17 afternoon. They provided coffee and my cousins and I provided yummy brownies to attract a crowd.

Luckily, family and friends turned out in large numbers for this meet & greet and bought all 20 copies that Bobbie and the store had ordered of Letters Between Us. Hooray!

It was wonderful to see everyone and talk with passersby also who took interest in my work.

I was having such a good time signing books that I forgot to take photographs of the crowd and so returned later to at least document being at this large, spacious, and well-run store...Bobbie---you are great and thanks for your belief and support in Letters Between Us. Thanks again to all the Trotta and Palermo families and also the many friends & colleagues of Marylou and John who I loved meeting and chatting with.

Linda Overman talks w/West Side Writers in Cleveland

On January 17, 2009 on a bitter cold Saturday morning, I was introduced by Susan DiSalvo at the West Side Writers talk in the Westlake Porter Public Library in Cleveland, OH where I talked about the challenges of being an author--as I call it--"Publish or Perish and Live to Tell About It." Comprised of a "motley group of writers, published and not yet published, working in various ways the craft and art of writing," this audience was well informed and a devoted group of men and women who share the same passion and love of the written word as I do. It was quite an honor to speak with them and discuss why we do what we do so doggedly despite the many many rejections. No matter, we just do it because it's like breathing and we have no choice but to continue.

Thank you for inviting me West Side Writers and thanks to my cousins John & Marylou Palermo for providing me with first class accommodations at their lovely home in Westlake, OH and for feeding me our favorite food, Italian. Also thanks to reporter, Mary Levtzow, who writes for several of the local papers such as The Westlaker Times, Crocker Park Press, The Olmsted-Fairview Times, The Lorain County Times, and The Lakewood News Times among others for taking photographs and writing such wonderful articles to publicize the event. Thank you to the library for accepting a donation of my book and promising to review it on their website.

The fact that all these attendees came out on such a cold snowy morning to hear me and excerpts from my novel, Letters Between Us, is a testament to the forbearance and drive of so many writers. Again thanks to the wonderful hosts from my family the Palermos and their willingness to support me during this book tour!

Letters Between Us & AAUW NYC Chapter Book Club

On Jan 15, 2009 Thursday evening at the elegant East 37th Street
brownstone of the New York City Branch of the American Association of University Women, Letters Between Us, was read and discussed by a small group of brave women who ventured out in the brrrr! of the night to share tea, tastes, treats, and good conversation. Again this book club was lively and fueled by the insights of Professor Meg Florio and her colleagues, thank you to Julie and the rest of you for buying, reading and being willing to talk into the night about my epistolary novel with such passion and caring.

Letters Between Us welcomed in Book Clubs Jan 2009

Letters Between Us was read and discussed in
New York City in the coldest of winter days at
a Book Club hosted by Professor Meg Florio in her
beautiful apartment on the west side with
stunning views of the city a
of the Hudson River. Here we are lunching at Asiate inside the lovely Mandarin Oriental Hotel.

The ladies showed interest, wisdom, and keen insight in the literariness of this epistolary novel, guided and facilitated by Prof. Florio's close read of the work along with her sister and friends who drove into the city from Connecticut on the coldest of evenings!

My thanks and heaps of warm appreciation to all of them & especially Prof. Florio for hosting me and my novel in her exquisite apartment and providing me with a five-star shelter and
a metro card, which I kept
mis-sliding in the subway entrances and
holding up the line.
